The idea
Prosochē — attention — is the Stoic name for keeping the ruling faculty present to what you are doing. Hadot treats it as the continuous exercise under the episodic ones. You will lose it dozens of times a day. The practice is returning, not never drifting.
Two corruptions: self-surveillance as identity ("I am someone who monitors myself") which produces brittle shame, and perfectionism that treats every drift as moral failure. Both burn people out of the only sustainable form of the art.
Repair after lapse is the same shape as Module 09's setback review: note, adjust, continue. No autobiography required.

Why this matters
Without return, morning prep and evening review bookend a day spent asleep at the wheel.
Without gentleness, attention practice becomes another arena for ego.
Sustainability beats intensity for a philosophy meant to last decades.
