The idea
Popular revival Stoicism photographs well when it is about calm under insult. It photographs less well when it is about what you owe. Justice is one of the four cardinal virtues and, in Marcus, close to the organising theme: we are made for co-operation — structural, not sentimental.
Dropping justice does not require misquoting. You can cite the dichotomy of control accurately and never ask the justice question. That is why the individualist misreading survives contact with the primary texts.
Reinstall the question as non-optional: what do I owe the other people in this, and does being right entitle me to the manner as well as the substance?

Why this matters
Without justice, the loop becomes self-protection software. Useful, incomplete, and easy to brand.
With justice, composure becomes instrumental — you steady yourself so you can be of use.
Most moral fog people call "guilt" is an unasked justice question. Asking it properly is a relief.
