581 foods across nine categories. Every calorie, gram and milligram on these cards was retrieved from USDA FoodData Central rather than typed here, and every card links to the record its numbers came from.
The micronutrients listed for a food are calculated, not hand-picked: a nutrient appears when 100 g supplies at least 10% of the FDA adult Daily Value, the same threshold the FDA uses for a “good source” claim on a label. That is why two foods here list none at all — the test is not being applied generously.
The standouts
Nature’s most nutrient-dense foods
Nutrient density is a plain idea measured precisely: how much nutrition arrives per calorie. The foods below clear the FDA good-source threshold — 10% of a Daily Value per 100 g — on more micronutrients than most, drawn from the same USDA data as the full database. The populations studied for exceptional longevity tend to eat this way, around whole and minimally processed foods; that link is observational, and it is set out under longevity nutrition. Each line here describes what a food supplies, not an outcome it produces.
