  • Epigenetic clocks read DNA methylation at a set of sites and return an age estimate, and the better ones predict population-level outcomes well — GrimAge in particular outperforms earlier clocks at predicting age-related disease and mortality across cohorts.

    The problem is the jump from a cohort to you. A clock trained to predict average outcomes across thousands of people can be strongly predictive in aggregate while being noisy for one individual, and different clocks disagree with each other on the same sample.
